BORDER CROSSING CHECKPOINTS / POINTS OF UZBEKISTAN

Uzbekistan currently has 15 border checkpoints with neighboring counties such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

While crossing borders, all medicines should have labels or boxes with names. All psychotropic medicines need a doctor’s prescription. It is a must for all borders. It is advisable to mention such drugs in declaration forms. Moreover, travelers should check the list of prohibited medicines before traveling to a certain country. Especially, Turkmen border clerks check each medicine in detail.

We would like to share the below useful and detailed information (names of border checkpoints, location of border crossing checkpoints, working hours of border crossing checkpoints) about each border crossing points of Uzbekistan with neighboring countries, where foreigners can pass:


 

UZBEKISTAN-KAZAKHSTAN OR KAZAKHSTAN-UZBEKISTAN BORDER CROSSINGS

There are 5 border crossing points between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan where tourists can pass:

1) GISHT KUPRIK/GISHT KOPRIK (UZB.) – JIBEK JOLY/ZHIBEK ZHOLY (KAZ.) CHECKPOINT

Gisht Kuprik border crossing point is approximately 25 km from the city center of Tashkent while Jibek Joly border is approximately 110 km from Shymkent. Both Uzbek and Kazakh sides of the border point are open 24/7 without a lunch break, even on public holidays! Own vehicle and motorbike are not allowed to pass. This is the most overloaded checkpoint.

2) YALLAMA (UZB.) – B. KONYSBAEVA (KAZ.) CHECKPOINT

Yallama border crossing point is approximately 10 km from Chinaz, Tashkent region while Zhetysay, the closest main city, is 75 km from B.Konysbaeva border. The checkpoint has been closed for some reconstruction since 01 Nov 2019. Before the closing it was functioning 24/7. It was possible to pass the checkpoint with own vehicle and motorbike.

3) NAVOI/SARYAGASH (UZB.) – KAPLANBEK (KAZ.) CHECKPOINT

Navoi/Saryagash border crossing point is approximately 20 km from Tashkent, while Kaplanbek Tamozhnya is approximately 5 km from Saryagash District.

This less busy border is open 24/7 without a lunch break, even on public holidays! It is possible to pass the border with own vehicle and motorbike.

4) S. NADJIMOV/MAYSKIY (UZB.) – KAZYGURT (KAZ.) CHECKPOINT

S. Nadjimov/Mayskiy border crossing point is approximately 45 km from Tashkent and 15 km from Kibray. This less busy border is open 24/7 without a lunch break, even on public holidays! It is possible to pass the border with own vehicle and motorbike.

5) DAUT ATA (UZB.) – TAJEN/TEJEN/BEYNEU (KAZ.) CHECKPOINT

Daut Ata border crossing point is approximately 430 km from Nukus, Karakalpak Autonomous Republic while Tajen/Tejen/Beyneu border is approximately 85 km till Beyneu district of Mangystau Region in south-western Kazakhstan.

The border checkpoint is open 24/7 without a lunch break, even on public holidays! It is possible to pass the checkpoint with own vehicle and motorbike. 80 km part of the road to the border point is almost unpaved, broken, and time-consuming.


 

UZBEKISTAN-KYRGYZSTAN OR KYRGYZSTAN-UZBEKISTAN BORDER CROSSINGS

There are 2 border crossing points between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan where tourists can pass:

1) DUSTLIK/DOSTLIK (UZB.) – DOSTUK/DOSTYK (KYR.) CHECKPOINT

Dustlik/Dostlik border crossing point is approximately 45 km from Andijan and while Dostuk/Dostyk border checkpoint is approximately 10 km from Osh city.

The border crossing point is open 24/7 without a lunch break, even on public holidays! It is possible to pass the border with own vehicle and motorbike.

2) IZBOSKAN/MADANIYAT (UZB.) – MANYET/BYURGENDYU (KYR.) CHECKPOINT

Izboskan/Madaniyat border crossing point is approximately 35 km from Andijan and while Manyet/Byurgendyu border checkpoint is approximately 90 km from Arslanbob village. The border crossing point is open: Mon-Sun, year-round, 09:00-18:00 (but a traveller should reach to the border not later than 16:00). Own vehicle and motorbike are not allowed to pass.


 

UZBEKISTAN-TURKMENISTAN OR TURKMENISTAN-UZBEKISTAN BORDER CROSSINGS

There are 3 border crossing points between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan where tourists can pass:

Please note Turkmen customs declaration form is available in Turkmen, Russian and English languages, but may not always be available in English at the time of arrival.

Tourists should pay a Turkmen visa fee in case of getting at the Uzbek-Turkmen border. Visa fee amounts depend on traveller’s nationalities. Additionally, USD 10+4 per person (Turkmen migration fees + bank fees) (amount subject to change) to be paid at Uzbek-Turkmen border.

Remark: above have to be paid by the travelers themselves, at the spot, at the cash counter inside the Passport/Customs post, in cash USD (clean, undamaged bank notes, preferably in the exact sum, due to lack of change at these posts). Euros are not accepted.

1) OLOT/ALAT (UZB.) – FARAB/FARAP (TKM.) CHECKPOINT

Olot/Alat border crossing point is approximately 100 km from Bukhara and while Farab/Farap border is approximately 285 km from Mary. The border checkpoint is open 24/7 without a lunch break. Closed during Turkmen holidays. It is possible to pass the border point with own vehicle and motorbike.

This border crossing point is the most complicated and time consuming. The neutral zone is approximately 1,5 km. Old minivans (Chevrolet Damas) without A/C are functioning on half part of the neutral zone (Uzbek part) & vans (Gazel) are functioning on the 2nd half part (Turkmen part). So the clients have to change the transport during travelling through neutral zone. The fare is 5000-6000 Uzbek soum (60 US cents) per person for each van. It is possible to pay in USD as well.

2) SHOVOT/SHAVAT (UZB.) – DASHOGUZ (TKM.) CHECKPOINT

Shavat border crossing point is approximately 55 km from Khiva and while Dashoguz border is approximately 100 km from Kunya Urgench.

The border is open: Mon-Sun, year-round, 09:00-18:00 (but a traveler should be at the border point not later than 16:00). Closed during Turkmen holidays. It is possible to pass the border with own vehicle and motorbike.

In the neutral zone, there is only 1 Russian van (Gazel) without A/C is functioning. Sometimes it takes time to wait! The fare is 5000-6000 Uzbek soum (60 US cents) per person. It is possible to pay in USD as well.

3) KHOJEYLI/KHUJEYLI (UZB.) – KUNYA URGENCH/KONYE URGENCH (TKM.) CHECKPOINT

Khojeyli/Khujeyli border checkpoint is approximately 25 km from Nukus and while Kunya Urgench/Konye Urgench is approximately 110 km from a historical town – Kunya Urgench. The border point is open: Mon-Sun, year-round, 09:00-18:00 (but a traveler should reach to the border not later than 16:00). Closed during Turkmen holidays. It is possible to pass the border point with own vehicle and motorbike. The neutral zone is 200 meters only. Accordingly, there is no porter service.


 

UZBEKISTAN-TAJIKISTAN OR TAJIKISTAN-UZBEKISTAN BORDER CROSSINGS

There are 5 border crossing points between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan where tourists can pass:

1) JARTEPA/JARTEPO (UZB.) – SARAZM (TJK.) CHECKPOINT

Jartepa/Jartepo check-point is approximately 45 km from Samarkand and while Sarazm border is approximately 30 km from the historical Penjikent/Panjakent town. The border checkpoint is open 24/7 without a lunch break. It is possible to pass the border point with own vehicle and motorbike.

2) SARIASIYA/SARIOSIYO (UZB.) – BRATSTVO (TJK.) CHECKPOINT

Sariasiya/Sariosiyo border crossing point is approximately 200 km away from Termez, 40 km away from Denau, while Bratstvo border point is approximately 70 km from Dushanbe. The border crossing point is open 24/7 without a lunch break. It is possible to pass the border point with own vehicle and motorbike.

3) GULBAKHOR (UZB.) – AYVADJ (TJK.) CHECKPOINT

Gulbakhor border checkpoint is approximately 60 km from Termez, while Ayvadj border crossing point is approximately 170 km from Qurghonteppa. The border checkpoint is open: Mon-Sun, year-round, 09:00-17:00 (but a traveler should be at the border not later than 15:30). It is possible to pass the border point with own vehicle and motorbike.

4) OYBEK (UZB.) – FOTEKHOBOD (TJK.) CHECKPOINT

Oybek border crossing point crossing point is approximately 110 km away from Tashkent, while Fotekhobod one is approximately 70 km from Khudjand. The border point is open 24/7 without a lunch break. It is possible to pass this checkpoint with own vehicle and motorbike.

5) ANDARKHAN/ANDARKHON (UZB.) – PATAR (TJK.) CHECKPOINT

Andarkhan/Andarkhon border crossing point is approximately 50 km from Kokand, while Patar border checkpoint is approximately 80 km from Khudjand. The border is open 24/7 without a lunch break. The border checkpoint is open 24/7 without a lunch break. It is possible to pass the border point with own vehicle and motorbike.
