What to pack for a trip to Uzbekistan?!

Any traveler faces a question “What should I take for a trip?” First of all, he/she should make a detailed list of necessary items to pack for his/her trip. The list should cover from must-takes up to suggested ones …

Below we have tried to give you some of guidance basing on our experience and our region. We are sure that it will help you whether you are going on a short trip or business trip or a long period trip!


 

STEP #1: CHOOSE THE RIGHT TRAVEL BAG

When choosing a travel bag, please base on the duration of your trip and type of a trip. Thus, you will have a hint to choose a suitable bag.

A travel bag should be light, easy to carry or pull, multifaceted and big enough to contain your stuff. It is vital to have a reliable-good quality bag as, a traveling with a broken bag (which has problems with wheels, zips or handle) will certainly spoil your trip!

The following type of bags can be used for the trip to Central Asia: wheeled or convertible duffel bags, four wheeled bags, travel backpack, carry-on bags, etc.

When travelling, please always keep your vitally important items (passport, documents related to your visa, medicine, emergency contacts …) with you as airlines may lose or deliver your luggage with some delay.


 

STEP # 2: ORGANIZE YOUR TRAVEL STUFF

If your tour package includes various types of activities, you will have to take more items. So, we recommend to start with the below basics:

  • Sweaters or fleece jacket (depending on season)
  • Casual shirts with long sleeves
  • T-shirts
  • Belt with pocket for keeping money
  • Pants
  • Cotton socks
  • Foldable umbrella (depending on season)
  • Comfortable shoes
  • Sunglasses
  • Dresses and/or skirts
  • Better avoid bringing Jewelry (it is totally safe to travel to Central Asia & most hotels have a safety box, but it is better to leave jewelry at home so that to travel by relaxing)
  • Scarf
  • Hat or cap
  • Earphones, charger, power-bank charger
  • Electrical adapters

 

STEP #3: PACK YOUR TOILETRY BAG

  • Here’s a packing list of your toiletry bag with the below basics:
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, and similar items
  • Hair brush/comb, hair ties
  • Deodorant
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Sunscreen and face lotion with SPF
  • Make up packed in a wipe-able wristlet
  • Face wash and/or makeup remover wipes and Q-tips
  • Night time moisturizer/lotion
  • Lip balm with SPF
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Glasses

 

TOILETRY BAG EXTRAS:

  • Cologne/perfume
  • Little mirror
  • Shaving kits
  • Sewing kit, stain remover
  • Nail clippers and tweezers (optionally, scissors, which must be in checked luggage)

 

TRAVEL HEALTH:

Before travelling internationally, kindly check the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s website for comprehensive information on travel vaccines, medicines, and local travel advice.

  • First aid kit (bandages, gauze, adhesives, etc.)
  • Prescription medication with the label/script so that you can refill if needed and not be questioned by an Airport Security.
  • Pain and fever relievers (also some medicine for children if you are traveling with kids)
  • Thermometer
  • Cold medicines and throat lozenges
  • Diarrhea medicines
  • Oral rehydration salts
  • Allergy medicines
  • Hydrocortisone cream/antibacterial ointment
  • Sunburn relief
  • Insect repellent/mosquito net/sting reliever
  • Motion sickness pills or bands
  • Altitude sickness pills (if you are planning to hike in higher altitudes)
  • Eye drops
  • Moleskin

 

ADDITIONAL HEALTH ITEMS:

  • Hand sanitizer or wet wipes
  • Prescriptions in original packaging (you’ll want to make sure you have these in your carry-on bag just in case something were to happen to your checked luggage)
  • Sleeping medicines

 

STEP #4: PREPARE YOUR PERSONAL ITEM CARRY-ON BAG

The next step is to make a packing list of your personal stuff for a carry-on bag with anything needed during the flight. You should have an outfit (or two) and a few essential toiletries in your personal item just in case your luggage is lost or delayed.

 

TECHNOLOGY:

  • Mobile device, charger & power-bank charger
  • Laptop, iPad, or E-reader and charger(s)
  • Headphones
  • Camera and GoPro/video camera, memory card, and chargers
  • Electrical adapters

 

TRAVEL COMFORT, ENTERTAINMENT, AND INFORMATION:

  • Travel pillow, blanket, eye mask, and ear plugs
  • Books and magazines
  • Deck of cards and travel games
  • Water bottle (you’ll need to fill it up once you get through Airport Security)
  • Guide books, travel guides, maps, language guides, etc. (if you will need any of these upon arrival at your destination, put it in your carry-on)

 

STEP #5: PACK IMPORTANT TRAVEL DOCUMENTS, CASH, AND CREDIT CARDS

  • Here’s your international travel checklist, document-wise:

  • Frequent flyer card and other loyalty program card numbers (ex: hotel chains and AAA)
  • Cash and credit card(s) (call your credit card companies before you travel to inform them of your travel, otherwise they might turn them off to prevent perceived fraud)
  • Health insurance cards/document(s)
  • Travel insurance information
  • Reservations and itineraries (print them and save them electronically for easy access)
  • Hotel and/or tour contact information
  • Transportation tickets (plane, train, bus, car, etc.)
  • Emergency contacts and important addresses
  • Copies of all these things in case you lose your wallet

 

STEP #6: CONSIDER TRAVEL SECURITY

Central Asia is totally safe to travel. But a traveler should be careful anyway with pickpockets. The best way to keep your belongings is to keep them hidden and close to you. One way to do this is to stash your valuables underneath your clothing.

 

CONSIDER THIS LIST OF SAFETY TRAVEL ESSENTIALS:

  • Keep the post office updated to hold your mails
  • Stop newspaper delivery
  • Set up an email auto responder (unless you plan to be connected)
  • Arrange for the care of pets, lawn, and plants
  • Pre-pay your bills
  • Prearrange school absences for children and get any home study assignments required
  • Empty refrigerator of this that will expire
  • Unplug appliances
  • Turn off heater/air conditioner
  • Turn down water heater
  • Turn off washing machine taps
  • Lock all doors and windows
  • Set up timed light system
  • Store valuables in a safe place
  • Leave house key and trip itinerary with a trusted friend
  • Leave flight and hotel itineraries with a relative
  • Reconfirm/check-in online with airline in advance
